Rose Oil

Rose oil, also called rose otto or attar of roses, is the precious essential oil obtained by steam distilling fresh rose petals. The process requires enormous quantities of flowers, typically three to five tons of petals to produce just one kilogram of oil, making it one of the most expensive natural ingredients in perfumery.

Rose oil has a complex, multi-faceted aroma that is fresh, green, and slightly spicy alongside the expected floral sweetness. It is quite different from rose absolute, which is richer and more honeyed.

In perfumery, rose oil provides the truest, most authentic representation of living roses. It has a natural freshness and a delicate, almost dewy quality that captures roses at the moment they open their petals.

Rose oil pairs beautifully with virtually everything, from woods and spices to other flowers and musks. It is a universal ingredient found in fragrances of every type, from the lightest colognes to the heaviest orientals.
