Diorama is a 1948 creation that stands alongside Miss Dior as one of the earliest and most important fragrances in the House of Dior. This is a fragrance of extraordinary complexity from the golden age of French perfumery.
The opening combines peach, plum, melon, and bergamot into a rich, fruity introduction that is immediately lush and inviting. The heart is breathtaking in its complexity, with jasmine, gardenia, tuberose, rose, lily of the valley, and violet creating a dense, magnificent white floral bouquet.
Cinnamon, caraway, pepper, nutmeg, and clove add warm, exotic spiciness. The base is uncompromising in its depth, with oak moss, castoreum, civet, leather, vetiver, sandalwood, musk, and Virginia cedar creating an animalic, mossy, and leathery foundation.
This is perfumery at its most ambitious and accomplished. Diorama is a living museum piece that showcases what was possible when perfumers had access to the full palette of natural materials and the creative freedom to use them all.
